PILZ provides solutions for safety monitoring throughout the food production cycle.
Successful transformation of the dairy product palletizing system
The relay-based shielding controller ensures 30 the safety devices at each entrance and exit remain shielded while goods are passing through. When the device is deactivated, the dairy factory faces a special challenge: due to the lack of a replacement product, they had to find an innovative solution that could mimic the functionality of the existing evaluation relays and interaction with the light curtain without interfering with the higher-level controller. To do this, they needed support from external professionals for planning and assistance with safety-related approvals. Today, PILZ's flexible and safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 achieves seamless shielding, ensuring the safe entry and exit of goods.
One-to-one replication of existing functionality
Challenge: The higher-level controller was involved in the shielding operation. Today, PNOZmulti 2 the functionality of the existing relay is replicated, more precisely: all safety devices have a dual-channel operating function: If the equipment controller signals the arrival of a pallet, PNOZmulti 2 the previous relay task is performed: it shields the two control outputs, and this operation is confirmed by a higher-level standard controller, allowing goods to be transported. In addition, the automated system PSS 4000 is also responsible for multiple sites. This system was also implemented by Pilz and installed within a weekend.
